Foster Care And Adoption 101

What is Restorative Foster Care?

Relational care through which healthy attachment, consistency, nurture and skills are able to restore the life of a child who possesses advanced emotional, behavioral, developmental, or educational needs as a product of the past trauma and/or special physical, medical or cognitive needs he or she has experienced. Families interested in providing restorative care have to possess a specific set of skills and experience that will grant them the ability to successfully support children coming from difficult backgrounds

The mission of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is to protect the unprotected. Open your heart and your home to a child and learn from  DFPS the basics of foster care and adoption. There is no charge to attend a foster care/adoption information meeting and registration is not required.
