This program is designed for teens (ages 12-19) on the austism spectrum to interact and play with our new Sphero robots. Sphero robots have been used to great effect with teens on the spectrum (http://bit.ly/1XpdCRx & http://bit.ly/2ieizCB) and we hope that the inclusive nature of this program encourages teens to be comfortable using our new robots! Sphero robots (www.sphero.com) are highly durable and can be operated using an iPad with several apps (we will be using the official Sphero app and the Sphero Draw N' Drive app, both are available for free on the Apple and Android app stores.) This program will include a time to "meet" the robots, see them in action, and then have time for independent play! iPads and Sphero robots are provided.
During our second session (on Wednesday, April 26 at 4:00 p.m.) we will be taking the robots outside! Sphero robots can be tools for teens to express themselves artistically as well, so we will be providing an opportunity for teens to create sidewalk art using the robots. Those who wish to make Sphero art, please wear clothes that you are comfortable getting dirty.
Due to the number of robots and iPads, this program will be limited to the first fifteen (15) teen participants. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the program (3:45 p.m.) Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay, but it is not necessary.
