Japan Otaku Day

Make new friends, play awesome games, and watch some new anime at the Arlington Public Library's monthly program on Japanese pop culture, Japan Otaku Day! Whether it's learning how to write and speak Japanese, testing your otaku skills with some anime Jeopardy, learning about different Japanese holidays, or just sitting back and watching a new and exciting anime, Japan Otaku Day is here to serve for you to let loose, have fun, and meet some awesome people with a shared love of Japanese culture.

At the end of every Japan Day, there will be a giveaway for anime/manga-related prizes...

Tinker Lab

Join other tinkerers to explore electronic circuits with LittleBits. LittleBits let you snap together magnetic bits to create a circuit as simple or as complicated as you like.

Registration is required. For ages 10-18.

Tinker Lab

Join other gadget enthusiasts as they tinker with Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is a mini computer that is about the size of a credit card and can be programmed to do any number of things. In this class you will learn how to set up a Raspberry Pi and control it remotely from a laptop.

Registration is required. For ages 10-18.

Mindstorms Robotics: 60 Minute Challenge

Take the 60 Minute Challenge! Using Lego Mindstorms, attempt to design, build, and program a robot to complete a given task in under an hour. This program is for students already familiar with Lego Mindstorm robotics and allows them to apply their creativity and problem solving skills to complete the challenge. A different challenge will be presented each week.

For ages 9-18. Registration is required for each session.

Dead Rising: Zombie Makeup Workshop

It’s the time for ghouls, monsters and zombies! Got that zombie fever? Come take part in the season by learning how to apply zombie makeup. It will be a fright!

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your program to ensure confirmation of your reservation. Registrants who arrive late will risk losing their spots in the program.

Some may be sensitive to makeup products. We will test the products before applying it to your face.

Southern Stitches: Family Crafting Club

Do you want to learn how to sew or have a sewing project you want to finish? Want to meet like minded people? Come join the sewing fun!

Limited supplies available for use :

Donated scrap fabric will be available to use for practicing or creating small projects. Needles, pin needles, scissors and thread. Sewing machines will be available for use. If you have your own feel free to bring it.

To ensure that you have a successful time at sewing club, please bring your own supplies

ALL ages, experience levels, are welcomed!

What book are you reading? Have you always wanted to join a book club? Well here is your chance! Come hang out with other teens and experience different worlds through the pages of a book!

There are 10 available spots that will receive the book of the month for free. First come first served

Please come to Summer Reading Club Kickoff at the Northeast Branch to pickup the selected book for the month of June.

If you miss out on the free book you can still join! We will have the book of the month available for check out with your library...
