In Indian culture, elephants are a symbol of mental strength, earthiness and responsibility. In Hinduism, the elephant is a sacred animal and is considered the representation of Ganesh, the elephant-headed deity. Come make a “good luck” elephant garland with library staff. All materials will be provided. No registration is required.

Family Movie: The Jungle Book

Join us to watch the live-action Disney's Jungle Book on Friday, March 17 at 12pm. Come watch the adventures of Mowgli, the "man cub," raised by the Seeonee Indian wolf Raksha and her pack, led by Akela, in a jungle ever since he was brought to them as a baby. Popcorn will be provided, and please feel free to bring a drink of your choice. No registration required.

Legal Draft: A Library is Brewing

Join the craft brew revolution and support the Downtown Library with great drinks including root beer, live music, arts and crafts, and games for the whole family.

Admission at the door:

Adults (21+): $20 for a glass souvenir stein and three drinks Kids: $5 for unlimited root beer

Best Buy - Teen Coding Workshop

Best Buy will host Web Know-How Class Teen Tech Week is March 6-12, 2016, with a theme of Create it at your Library. Best Buy’s Blue Shirt and Geek Squad Agents will facilitate a teen tech workshop in various libraries in cities across the country. Classes will to help teens build digital literacy skills in an interactive and collaborative environment. Participants will learn web making by manipulating code through hands- on and guided online activities.

Ages 12-18 welcome to participate.

Did you know that our library has TWO Teen Centers that are open to ALL 6 th through 12 th grade students? Located at the East Branch Library and the Northeast Branch Library, they offer desktop computers, personal laptops, headphones, and other accessories for teens to check out anytime.

We provide a fun, safe social space for teens to chat, read, listen to music, work on school/ personal projects, surf the web, and engage in online competitive gaming. By the way gamers , we also offer a Playstation 3 & Wii at both locations!
